Prof. Shan graduated from Dalian Maritime University with B.Sc. degree in nautical science and Master degree in maritime law. He was also honored both the LL.M. and Ph.D. in maritime law from Tulane University Law School.
Prof. Shan is the Vice-president and a Ph. D supervisor of Dalian Maritime University, guest researcher of Institute of Maritime Law in Waseda University, specialized in Maritime Law, Collision Law and Oil Pollution Law. He had worked on board the vessel as an officer. He is qualified as a PRC lawyer in 1998. He is an Arbitrator of China Maritime Arbitration Commission, academic committee member of Institute of Maritime Law, Shanghai Maritime University, the Council Member of China Maritime Law Association, the Secretary- General of the Admiralty Law Committee of China Maritime Law Association, the Vice-President of the Maritime Law Research Committee of Liaoning Law Society, the Council Member of Environmental and Resource Protection Institute of China Law Society, Vice-Chairman of Administrative Regulation Committee of Expert Commission of Maritime Safety Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
Prof. Shan specializes in maritime tort (including ship collision, marine pollution, marine personal injury), salvage at sea and wreck removal ,bill of lading, charter party and other admiralty and maritime matters.
